On July 3, 1947, a rancher by the name of Bac Brazel was awakened by a loud noise outside of his house.  The next morning he investigated by horseback and discovered a strange crash of some sort of disc object.  He reported the incident to authorities, and on July 8, 1947, the Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) issued a press release stating that personnel from the field’s 509th Bomb Group had recovered a crashed “flying disc” from the ranch.  Later the same day the Commanding General of the Eighth Air Force stated that, in fact, a weather balloon had been recovered by RAAF personnel rather than a “flying saucer.”

The case was quickly forgotten and almost completely ignored  for over 30 years until ufologist Stanton Friedman interviewed Major Jesse Marcel, who was involved with the original recovery of the debris in 1947.  Marcel expressed his belief that the military had covered up the recovery of an alien spacecraft.

Speculation about what really happened near Roswell continues to this very day with many theories and books written.  Probably the most mysterious “evidence” revolves around the supposed “recovery and autopsy” of five alien bodies.  A nurse reported that she was forced to perform autopsies on these alien bodies to try to identify what they were.  Photographs show a humanoid-type body having a larger head  and very large eyes.

So what is the truth about extraterrestrials or strange alien visitors supposedly from outer space?  Are there strange beings lurking around us that we are not aware of, or is this just a lot of hype?

We will probably never know all the facts but it is interesting that 1,000 year-old Native American petroglyphs and pictographs seem to record images of similar looking beings.  Did the native artists have wild imaginations, or did they actually see things that caused them to inscribe strange looking pictures on the canyon walls of the American southwest?

The Bible records an interesting incident wherein the herds of Job were destroyed by fire “fallen from heaven.”  This is similar to the numerous reports in the 1970’s and 80’s of cattle mutilations east of Colorado Springs.  Circular rings of scorched grass around the dead animals caused much speculation amongst ranchers in the western plains.

Throughout the world there have been reports which allege that cattle have been killed and mutilated under mysterious circumstances. The dead cattle are said to have had their blood drained from their bodies, and various parts removed with surgical precision. Some argue that the mutilations are the result of extraterrestrials, while skeptics believe it to be either animal-sacrificing religious cults or the work of natural predators.
 

The incident involving Job was directed by Satan who had been given permission by God to test Job.  We would, therefore, conclude that the destructive scene described in Job chapter 1 was caused by evil and demonic beings.

Earth is the stage where the plan of redemption is being carried out, but earth is also the place to which Satan and a myriad of evil beings were exiled when they were cast out of heaven.  Man has been uniquely created in the image and likeness of God.  From a Biblical perspective, the probability of other human-like beings from outer space is very unlikely.

However, the Bible also records a future encounter with strange demonic beings.  During the seven years of Tribulation, the fury of hell will be unleashed upon earth as hordes of hideous demonic monsters will inflict injury upon mankind.  See Revelation 9:1-11
